Getting started

What can I do with TalkBrief?

Record a conversation or import an audio file on iPhone. Create a transcript, request an AI summary, ask questions across recordings, and organize follow-up tasks. The Web workspace lets you revisit your synced library.

What do I need for on-device transcription?

Apple On-Device transcription requires iOS 26 and supported hardware. Check that the selected language is supported and keep the app open while a long recording is being transcribed.

Can I import an existing recording?

Yes. Import an audio file into your library, then open the recording to transcribe and review it. Only record or import conversations you have permission to use.

Recording & transcription

The recording has no audio. What should I check?

Check microphone access in iPhone Settings and confirm another app is not using the microphone. Try a short recording in a quiet environment. Avoid force quitting TalkBrief while recording.

How is cloud transcription different?

High-Accuracy Cloud transcription is a Pro feature that uploads the selected recording for processing. It requires an internet connection and an available monthly transcription allowance. On-device transcription processes audio locally on supported iPhones.

Transcription is taking longer than expected.

Processing time depends on the recording length, transcription mode, and network conditions. Keep the app open, check your connection for cloud transcription, and follow any retry message. If the issue persists, contact support with the duration and selected mode; you do not need to send your recording.

TalkBrief Web & iCloud

How do I open my library on the web?

Enable iCloud Sync in the TalkBrief iPhone app and allow your recordings to sync. Open TalkBrief Web and sign in with the same Apple Account used for iCloud on your iPhone.

Why is my Web library empty?

Check that iCloud Sync is enabled and completed in TalkBrief, then confirm you signed in with the same iCloud Apple Account. Refresh the Web library after syncing. The Apple Account used for App Store purchases can be different from your iCloud account.

What can I do in TalkBrief Web?

Read synced summaries, action items, and transcripts; play synced recordings; download TXT or Markdown documents; and copy text for sharing. Recording and AI generation remain in the iPhone app. The Web Trash is currently read-only.

Why will a recording not play?

Audio is requested from your private iCloud library when you choose to play it. Check that the audio has synced from your iPhone and that your browser has a network connection, then try again.

AI, subscriptions & exports

Do summaries and Ask need an internet connection?

Yes. These features use cloud AI when you request them and send the relevant text and context for that request. Free usage has monthly limits. Check Profile in the app for your current plan and available features.

How do I restore or manage a subscription?

Use Restore Purchases in TalkBrief after reinstalling or changing devices. Purchases are tied to the Apple Account used for the App Store. You can manage or cancel your subscription in Apple subscription settings.

How do I export my notes?

On iPhone, use the export or share controls in recording details. On the web, choose Download for TXT or Markdown documents, or Share to copy text. The available destination depends on your device and browser.
